What's the Goal? To introduce kids of all experience and ability to the diverse events of track & field, through a positive experience that rewards effort, attitude and improvement. Kids are expected and rewarded for trying every event, giving their best effort, and achieving personal improvements.

How it Works: Kids will be divided into age groups and each night they will rotate through a run, jump, throw, and agility station. Events are measured and recorded each night, so we can keep track of and celebrate improvement.

Get a FREE Draper T&F "Timing Crew" T-Shirt: It takes a village to put together a quality track club. At every practice we need parents or older siblings to help measure times and marks of our athletes. Kids LOVE it when parents get involved and its fun to help out! Its a WIN-WIN! If you'd like to help with timing or measuring at 4 or more practices, indicate your shirt size in the Volunteering dropdown menu when registering. Volunteers get a free Draper T&F t-shirt!

As the season approaches, I'll send out a sign-up form to volunteers so you can reserve your spot(s). Thanks in advance for your help!

Spring 2017 Competition Team

Competition Team Schedule:  April 10th-June 10th.

Practice and meet schedule on our public Team Snap Page.

Registration: $160 includes DT&F jersey and 9 weeks of 3X90-minute practices per week. On weeks with a meet, we will have just 2 practices.

For athletes wanting to compete at the USATF State meet June 8-10, parents are responsible for purchasing their child a USATF membership at usatf.org ($20 per year). Parents are also responsible for the standard $3 per event fees at track meets we will attend. Registration is currently OPEN through the Team Snap link below. Limited to the first 100 athletes. Wait list available. $20 processing fee for cancellation.

Ages: 8-15 yrs-old. Must be in 2nd-8th grade to participate.

For 1st-5th grade kids, check out our fall cross country club at www.RaceCats.org

What's the Goal? To provide training that will prepare kids for competition in track and field events through teaching proper technique, a healthy competitive mindset, and confidence.

How does it work?  We will provide 4-5 stations at every practice (distance, sprints, throws, jumps, and agility). Athletes will choose three stations to practice in each night. Each practice will consist of warm-up, stretching, 25 minutes in 3 separate stations, and cool-down stretching. Athletes are expected to compete in at least two or more local USATF track meets AND the USATF State meet on June 8-10, 2017.

We will host home meets on May 4th with running events only and May 13th with running and field events. We will also attend other meets as a team throughout the season (see tentative schedule HERE).

Athletes must be a member of USATF ($20/year at usatf.org) to compete in the State meet. Top five finishers at State will be invited to advance to the USATF Region 11 meet June 22-24 in Meridian, Idaho. Top five finishers at Region will advance to the USATF Junior Olympic National Championships July 24-30th in Lawrence, Kansas.

If you're not sure your athlete is ready for the competition team yet, please consider the summer program as an introduction to track and field. See info on our Summer program below.

Meet Coach Nan

I started running as a sprinter/long jumper on the Jr. High track team when I was 13 years old. Discovered cross country my junior year in high school. As a senior at Bountiful High School in 1999, I set the 4A Utah High School State record in the 800 M with a time of 2:12.31. I then ran on 3 National Championship cross country teams at BYU and became an NCAA All-American in Cross Country and Track in the 3000M Steeplechase.
After college, running became secondary to pregnancy and raising kids, but I did get back into elite racing for a couple of years from 2009-2011 culminating with a 2:35 marathon PR and a few podium finishes in USATF National Championship road races. After an injury in 2011 I decided to have another child and pull back on the throttle again with my running. I've had my fair share of injuries and time away from regular training but running has always returned as a constant in my life. Running has provided me with deep friendships, emotional therapy, confidence and empowerment more than I ever imagined. I still enjoy running daily and racing in local races.
My vision for Draper Track and Field and Race Cats is to facilitate opportunities for youth to find confidence, joy, and life-long friendships. I hope to light the fire in these kids and help them fall in love with a sport they can do for the rest of their lives. I'd love to pay forward everything I've gained as a life-long runner and inspire this generation to enjoy the fitness, friendships, confidence, and joy that running provides.
I look forward to coaching your child!
